Apple Making India a Higher Priority for

iPhone Sales

Apple is pulling out all the stops in India to attract new customers to the iOS ecosystem in hopes they will never leave.

For the better part of two years now, the headlines have consistently reflected how India will one day prove to be a huge market for Apple's iPhone and the smartphone industry at large. Just last month, The Times of India reported that Apple will have a banner year in India over the next twelve months, generating some $1 billion in sales in this emerging market alone.

On Monday, more clues as to how Apple will grow its presence inside of India emerged. Apple, it seems, has just introduced a wide range of new offers to generate iPhone sales inside of the second most heavily populated nation in the world.

"Apple has begun offering trade-in rebates for Indian students bringing in their old smartphones to upgrade to an iPhone," reveals Mahesh Sharma of ZDNet. "Students will get 7,777 rupees ($144) off the cost of an iPhone, while non-students will get a 7,000 rupee ($130) discount, according to ZDNet."

Indian consumers can also take advantage of an up to 6,000 rupee ($111) refund for American Express customers purchasing an iPhone 4, 4S, or 5 before June 10. The deal requires that the AmEx card be used to purchase the handset on one of Apple's installment plans in the country.
Last year, Apple initiated an unorthodox installment payment plan for consumers in India looking to pay off their iPhone over time. Although these and other tactics have helped to improve iPhone sales in the region, Apple still has a long way to go before iOS dominates the Indian marketplace to the extent that Android presently is.

Jeffrey Preston Bezos

Path Search Update Is a Smart Trip Down Memory Lane

Path has rolled out a new search function to its iOS and Android apps, allowing users to recall stories and memories they have shared on the social platform in the past.Path — an intimate social network with a 50-friend limit — has embraced search with its latest update, which is now available in the App Store and Google Play. But it's not just any search — it's smart too, offering personalized search suggestions.
By pulling photos, check-ins and other updates previously shared, users can type in keywords such as "Thanksgiving last year" or "funny turkey photo" for results. The company said it was designed so "you can search like you think.

"Recently, our tools and methods for keeping our own memories safe have been shoe boxes, notebooks, photo albums, home videos, folders of pictures on computers, cell phone photo libraries," Path said in a blog post. "But today we’re offering a new way: Search, on Path 2.9. Search allows you to find all of your memories instantly.
Other search categories include friends, places, dates and holidays, seasons and weather, locations, birthdays, moments and emotions. In addition, selecting "nearby" will bring up updates captured near your current location.
Users can also import updates to Path from Facebook, Instagram, and Foursquare to keep memories in one spot.
The company said it will be rolling out search in increments to English users first.
Do you think Path's new search functionality is the wave of the future? Could it teach other sites such as Facebook a thing or two about social search?

〜DANCE EARTH Change the World~

20 of the world's most beautiful World Heritage Sites.

Angkor, Cambodia
The site lies a 20-minute tuk-tuk ride from the city of Siem Reap, with the bulk of visitors traveling between November and February, when the weather is dry and temperatures are coolest.

Acropolis, Greece
It's possible to take a tour to the site, or simply wander there from Athens on foot. The route along Adrianou Street to the back entrance of the site is a gentler climb than the Dionysus Theatre entrance.

Bagan, Myanmar
Located in Myanmar's central west, Bagan is serviced by flights, buses and trains from Yangon. Accommodation is centered in the surrounding villages of New Bagan and Nyaung Oo.

Galápagos Islands, Ecuador
Located nearly 1,000 kilometers from mainland Ecuador, the islands are serviced by flights from Quito and Guayaquil. Multi-day boat cruises are generally the best way to explore the islands.

Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia,Turkey
Due to the remote nature of the site in central Anatolia, most visitors opt to fly in from Istanbul to visit the area on a tour, or drive. Hotels cut out of the rock provide accommodation.

Great Barrier Reef, Australia
Larger islands are well-serviced by flights from mainland Australia. It's also possible to visit the reef via day trips from northern Queensland ports including Cairns and Port Douglas.

Hampi, India
Hampi is serviced by overnight bus from Goa. Trains run to nearby Hospet from Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Calcutta, and visitors will find a good range of low- to mid-range lodgings around Hampi village.
Iguazu National Park, Brazil and Argentina
The less-developed but refreshingly uncrowded Brazilian side of the falls is a half-hour bus ride from the city of Foz do Iguaçu. It's the same distance to the falls from Puerto Iguazu on the Argentine side. The two countries are connected via a bridge downriver of the falls.

Los Glaciares National Park, Argentina
Most visitors to this remote southern region of Argentina base themselves in El Calafate, the closest town to the park entrance. There are daily flights and buses from the capital Buenos Aires.

Machu Picchu, Peru
Several multi-day treks terminate at Machu Picchu, but it's also possible to take a train from Cusco to Aguas Calientes, and climb a steep flight of stairs or bus up to the site. Only the first 400 daily visitors are granted entry to Wayna Picchu, a separate set of ruins overlooking the main complex.

Mont-Saint-Michel, France
Mont-Saint-Michel is serviced by buses/tours from Rennes and Saint-Malo, but it's also possible to lodge in one of Mont-Saint-Michel's small hotels.

Petra, Jordan
Buses and day/overnight tours run from Jordan's capital Amman and the port city of Aqaba. It's also possible to organize tours from Egypt, and the Israeli resort town of Eilat. For longer stays, bunk down in Wadi Musa, Petra's neighboring town.

Pyramids of Giza, Egypt
Just 25 kilometers southwest of Cairo along the Nile River, the complex is most easily visited on a day trip from Egypt's capital.

Rapa Nui, Chile
While it's possible to access Easter Island by air from Tahiti, most visitors opt for the five-and-a-half hour flight from Santiago, Chile.

Serengeti National Park,Tanzania
The short October/November and March/April rainy seasons notwithstanding, the Serengeti, usually accessed via Kilimanjaro or Nairobi airports, offers great game viewing year-round.

Sigiriya, Sri Lanka
The central Sri Lankan site is located two to three hours by local bus from the city of Kandy (via Dambulla, home to a massive cave temple complex). It's also possible to organize a tour or personal driver from Kandy.

Tulum, Mexico
Located a few minutes drive from the small Yucatan Peninsula township of Tulum, the easily accessible ruins lie about 60 kilometers south of the larger township of Playa del Carmen, and a further 60 kilometers from Cancun.

Valletta, Malta
Just south of Sicily, Malta is connected by flights from across Europe. It's possible to lodge in Valletta, but the bulk of visitors make for the tiny nation's beach resorts.

Venice and its lagoon, Italy
Venice is served by nearby Marco Polo and Treviso airports, while trains arrive at the Venezia Santa Lucia train station in the western part of the city.

Yellowstone National Park,United States
Located around 100 kilometers from Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the closest major airport hub, the park has five main access points. Most visitors choose to drive throughout the park, camping en route.

Apple 'iOS in the Car' tie up with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz…

First the mobile phone, now the car. Having revolutionised personal communication Apple now wants to change the way we drive.
The technology group will next week launch its first in-car operating system with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo as it attempts to take the lead in a fierce race to dominate tomorrow’s smart cars.
The breakthrough comes amid a swirl of market rumours that Apple could be eyeing a bid for electric carmaker Tesla Motors. Google and other technology companies are already working on plans to develop their own car models alongside traditional automotive.

The deal marks the first time that Apple is embedding its software in devices other than its own branded products. The choice of the Ferrari, Volvo and Mercedes-Benz is seen to be in keeping with the US tech group’s high-end phones.
Apple’s head of internet software and services, Eddy Cue, joined the Ferrari board in 2012, saying at the time that he had “personally dreamed of owning a Ferrari since I was 8 years old and have been lucky to be an owner for the past 5 years.”
Cars connected to the internet and seamlessly integrated with personal communication devices are seen as the harbingers of vehicles that can drive themselves, mobile offices and “mobility solutions” for cities where all vehicles are controlled or monitored from a central database.

Carmakers are engaged in a fierce battle for control of car dashboards as incumbents fight with technology companies such as Microsoft and IBM to develop the software systems that will power the connected cars of tomorrow.
Rupert Stadler, chairman of Audi, used his keynote speech at January’s Consumer Electronics Forum, the technology industry’s annual symposium, to herald a new era of “connected cars” that would see automobiles become “the largest social mobile devices we own.

The official announcement of Apple’s deal will be made at next week’s Geneva Motor Show, sources told the Financial Times. A number of other manufacturers are expected to incorporate it into models in 2014. Apple, and the carmakers declined to comment
Drivers will be able to use Apple Maps as in-car navigation, as well as listen to music and watch films. Calls can be made through the system, which will tie into the Siri voice recognition platform so that messages can be read to the driver who can respond by dictating a reply.

An Apple powered car has been expected since the launch of its updated iOS 7 software. Cars can already play music through Apple devices but this allows the iOS software on the screen to be built into the car.
Apple showed the first images of the “iOS in the Car platform at a developer conference last year, which in effect mirrors the iPhone on the in-car display.

Just Release a New Marlboro Marijuana Cigarette

Is Big Tobacco already making moves into the marijuana business? Well, a story from Abril Uno might make you think that. When the website ran the story "Phillip Morris Introduces Marlboro Marijuana Cigarettes," the Internet exploded and hundreds of thousands of people shared the link on social media.
"Phillip Morris, the world's biggest cigarette producer, announced today that they will join the marijuana legalization bandwagon and start producing marijuana cigarettes," the article boldly stated. Marlboro M would be a major move by the multi-million dollar company and potentially signal big business's embrace of marijuana.
In case you missed your ninth grade Spanish class, "Abril Uno" translate to "April First," a.k.a. April Fools'. If that didn't tip you off, maybe some key lines in the article should have given you an idea that this was too good to be true.
"Norcik added that they have begun contacting former drug lords in Mexico and Paraguay, currently the largest marijuana-producing countries in the world, for the possibility of setting up a distribution ring across the North and South American continents, to streamline the supply lines."
But some people really wanted to believe, and a few doctored images circulating the web didn't help quash the rumors. Even though the life of legalized marijuana in the U.S. is still in its infancy, it's not that crazy to think that a huge company like Philip Morris would make a move into the ganja game. This past December, Bill Phelps, a spokesman for Philip Morris USA, maker of Marlboro, was very vague when asked about the possibility of the company's move into the marijuana business.
"We have a practice of not commenting or speculating on future business," Phelps said, adding "tobacco companies are in the business of manufacturing and marketing tobacco products."Marijuana business has already been killing it in Colorado, but we're probably still a while away from big business marijuana and Marlboro M — so don't hold your breath, in fact, just inhale ... that's the point.
